Twenty years after establishing its presence in China, Aprile continues to build on two decades of growth with a clear vision for the future.

Following Aprile China’s recent 20-year milestone, members of the Group’s senior leadership visited the Shanghai office to meet local teams, discuss future opportunities and reflect on how the business has evolved over the past two decades. For CEO Ivo Giovannini, returning to China after almost ten years offered the opportunity to witness first-hand both the country’s transformation and the continued development of Aprile’s operations.

“Meeting such a dynamic team at every level reinforced my confidence in Aprile China’s future and its role within our global network. I encourage our teams to think big. They are part of a country with extraordinary growth potential and will play a fundamental role in Aprile’s future.”

The visit also highlighted how significantly Aprile China has evolved. What began with a single office in Shanghai has grown into a network spanning Shanghai, Shenzhen and Tianjin, supporting customers with integrated logistics solutions across one of the world’s most important trading markets.

“The development of Aprile China has been supported by the expertise of our Project Cargo Division,” Giovannini explains. “It has played an important role in managing industrial projects, a sector in which Aprile has built an excellent reputation over many years.”

While the network has expanded, one factor has remained constant: the importance of local expertise.

“Every city and every port operates differently,” says Giovannini. “Understanding those differences is fundamental to delivering the right service for our customers.”

For Lisa Wu, General Manager of Aprile China, the visit represented an opportunity to strengthen the connection between the Group’s headquarters and the teams driving Aprile’s operations across China.

“This face-to-face exchange brought our global headquarters and our local China team even closer together.”

That close collaboration reflects the evolution of Aprile China itself.

“We started as a small representative office,” Wu explains. “Today, we have built a complete logistics network covering ocean freight, air freight, project cargo, warehousing and integrated supply chain solutions.”

As the business has grown, so too has its role within the Group.

“We are no longer simply a freight forwarder,” says Wu. “We have become a trusted supply chain partner, developing customised logistics solutions that meet our customers’ evolving needs.”

Looking ahead, both leaders see China continuing to play a strategic role within Aprile’s global network.

“China represents a focal point for the future growth of our entire organisation,” says Giovannini. Wu shares the same confidence. “Aprile China acts as the Group’s key Asia hub, connecting China’s trade with every corner of the globe and strengthening our worldwide logistics network.”

The visit reaffirmed not only the progress made over the past twenty years, but also the opportunities that lie ahead. Supported by experienced local teams, a growing international network and a commitment to long-term partnerships, Aprile China continues to play an increasingly important role in connecting customers with global markets.
