Responsibilities
Coordinate ocean import and export shipments with clients, overseas agents, carriers and customs brokers.
Monitor cargo throughout transit and provide clients and overseas agents with timely updates.
Submit shipping instructions to steamship lines, file AES and issue house bills of lading.
Review invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, customs declarations and shipper’s letters of instruction.
Ensure customs entries and AES filings are submitted accurately and on time.
File ISF and/or AMS as required.
Maintain complete and accurate shipment files.
Communicate with carriers and customs brokers to facilitate customs clearance.
Analyze shipping costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
Act as the primary contact for clients and overseas agents, responding to inquiries and resolving operational issues.
Build strong working relationships with clients and overseas agents to understand their shipping requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Experience in ocean import/export operations and freight forwarding.
Strong understanding of international trade regulations, Incoterms and customs procedures.
Knowledge of import and export documentation and filing requirements.
Experience with AES, HBL, ISF and/or AMS processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
